In the article, Nicolas Jafarieh discussed the need for athletes to make sure they are prepared for medical emergencies in case of an accident.

Mr. Jafarieh pointed out that, often, athletes carry information for an emergency contact person, but the contact person may turn out to be quite powerless if he or she has not been given any authority to deal with health care professionals on behalf of the injured or unconscious athlete. Mr. Jafarieh explained that this issue can be easily avoided by signing a simple power of attorney for health care and providing the form to the person we designate for emergency situations.
